My strongest association with the theme was "The space between us" - the field of human encounter. To bridge this distance, to overcome this primeval separation - is the meaning of our connection - games, love - desires and power - strategies. New electronic toys shall help us to reduce the gap between us. So there are scenes of full computer-halls, where hundreds of people,arranged in Iines, evereybody for himself, is changing messages with partners at the other end of the fibre-optic cables, not changing one view with the screen neighbour. A whole industry is earning billions with the desire for nearness and contact. . As a concrete imagination for my work I chose the idea, that all these text messages, emails and SMS we send each other, are coded with the ASCll Code (American Standard Code of Inforrnation Interchange). In fact we send lots of O and 1, who shall transportate emotional messages. So I was looking for an emotional charged text string to express in ASCII Code and I found the Chancon of Jaques Brel "Ne me quitte pas", which is in the popular music of 20th century one of the most forceful formulated primeval screams of loss-fear. To express this text-line in ASCII Code, I want to realize with tiles of ceramic. The viewer will look at an abstract color-pattern, which is in reality a sensual version of omnipresent streaming computer signals.
